On Sunday, Dixon, my 4 year old, asks me if Daddy can make him some cookies to sell. I said Mommy can help you make cookies. He’s like now? I’m like sure, let’s go see what we have. So, we look and I tell him, we have brownies, will that work? He says yes so we go to it. When we are done, he says now can I go door to door selling them? I’m like uh, it’s 7pm, I don’t think so but you don’t have school tomorrow so how ’bout you sell them then? He’s like okay!
Wakes up and first thing he says is “Can I go sell brownies now?” It was early in the morning so I told him in a little bit. So, at noon, I take a few moments and set them up outside. Dixon told me he wanted to go door to door with the brownies because he tried a lemonade stand at daycare over the summer and he didn’t make any money. I tell him to try it again and see how he does. So, Madi and Dixon make some signs, and with their big brother supervising, they are ready to go.
They sold all the brownies and 2 pitchers of Lemonade and made over $10! I was shocked!!! The supplies were probably $2 so not bad for a 4 year old and 8 year old. They had cars stopping to buy, people walking by, it was so cute. Neighbor kids came to help, it was a lot of fun for everyone.
The real question is – was their success the right product on a hot sunny day, their marketing, location of their stand or just because they were so darn cute?
